The Shop Solano directory is designed to increase small business revenue by supporting small local businesses in the county while providing the community with safe and convenient shopping experiences. We are asking the community to commit to spending 85% of their spending budget within Solano County and 50% of that with local small businesses. 

Empower Solano powered by BrandGOV is working along side Solano County Public Health Division to boost local businesses and promote keeping our local dollars local. 

Over the last few years the pandemic has negatively affected small businesses in our county. From that, we recognize how health and economic stability are intertwined. To support small business economic stability, we are launching Shop Solano to community businesses increase sales and gain exposure to new customers. 

BrandGOV’s researchers studied the Healthy Places Index – a data tool widely used to assess health equity issues – to identify at-risk neighborhoods in the county and the businesses located there.  As a result, 638 businesses have been placed in the online directory initially and the project’s other resource information is expected to be especially helpful in underserved communities. However, any Solano County business can participate in Shop Solano and the e-gift card promotion, and all are encouraged to do so. 

Our goal is to get ahead of a possible recession by strengthening the economic landscape within our County.
